The shy sunflower caught winking in mid-bloom.
This is the story of the Shy Sunflower. And, after a stormy afternoon, my family and I headed out to the far edge of our property to check out the garden. The progress of our sunflowers. The sky had an air of dreaminess about it, with it’s darkened clouds and big expanse in the wide open country. We’d been waiting all summer for these sunflowers to come out of hiding. “Look kids. It’s blooming.” I thought it to be winking at me. I proceeded to take pictures of its shy self, with my my older son slung around his dad’s shoulders and my youngest one wrestling him from behind, in the background. And of this. All by its mid-bloomed self.
