Petunias are beautiful flowers, but they are rather generic. The deepest color hues come from the very inner part of the petals and I wanted to capture the part that most people do not pay any attention to. This was a burgundy shade of petunia that we had planted in late Spring and I loved the contrast of the pollen against the rich pink color. When I got up close, using macro photography the manual way, I noticed that the petals had almost a sparkling sheen to them. It was just beautiful and I couldn't pass up such a shot, albeit difficult to keep my camera still for long enough to keep it in focus. I then became very passionate about macro photography, as it allowed me to see aspects of the world in a completely different way than what I originally had.
