The statue of a marble Kouros on the island of Naxos, Greece

Shaded from the generous summer heat, this impressive, six meters long, marble Kouros lies by a small village, Melanes, on the island of Naxos, Greece. Archeologists explanation is that the ancient sculptors abandoned the Kouros due to faults in the marble that were made of or damage due to transportation.
