The Tannery

The daily activities in a traditional Moroccan tannery (Morocco). In the heart of Fez lies one of the oldest tanneries in the world where skilled artisans carry on centuries-old traditions. From high above the bustling vats, the view reveals a mosaic of stone basins filled with vibrant natural dyes. Each color tells a story of craftsmanship passed down through generations. The workers move with precision and rhythm as they treat and dye leather using methods unchanged for hundreds of years. This cooperative effort supports local communities and preserves a heritage deeply rooted in Moroccan culture.
