14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
The Two Dragons

I often call the American alligator "water dragons" when I see their amazing osteoderms on their backs visible just above the water. And here is one that must be the most beautiful I have ever seen. His eyes are amazing, and to my surprise...a "flying dragon" was captured moving away from him and towards the camera. Interestingly, the dragon fly coloration resembles that of his gator pal. I was humbled and stunned when I saw the capture. Nature is breathtaking...
