The United Nations building, on the East Side of Manhattan, was designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and completed in 1952. It's a beautiful complex any time of day. but generates a special glow at night time. Those points of light in the distant sky are airplanes on final approach en route to Laguardia Airport.
