19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
The Watcher
The photo shows the Haskins House (1344 Carroll Avenue), a Victorian manor built in 1888. The tower-esque balcony facing the camera struck me as a kind of lookout, a place where, in small hours, one might lock eyes with an apparition, longing to be free of its eternal imprisonment.
