in the Milan area there are again the "fontanili".Its are sources of drinking water that, coming from the Alps, runs underground and flows into the river Po Valley. Its were dug by monks and farmers since the 1000 A.D. to have clean and abundant water throughout the year, to irrigate the fields and run the mills. Its are now protected as natural monuments to our history
