The Words

Poet Alexander Vvedensky was killed by NKVD. He said, "Poetry will fend for itself." When he was imprisoned, his ex-wife burned his manuscripts out of fear. Somewhere between Kharkov and Kazan, his body was thrown out of the prison car. But the poems remained – the ones that he gave to his friends.
