Ladakh, more particularly the Leh district is predominantly Buddhist. Signs and symbols of Buddhist religion dot the landscape. It is little wonder then that a traveller is welcomed by this beatific Buddha a little distance before entrance to the city of Leh. The paradox was that this apostle of peace sits opposite to an army camp, which is another ubiquity of the region.
