On the first afternoon of my latest trip to the Mara we left camp looking for lions when movement at the bottom of a tree caught my attention. As we got closer we saw a large number of mongooses rushing into a hole at the bottom of the tree. I kept on coming back to this tree for the next few days at different times of the day. On one afternoon, when the light was hitting the tree in an uneven way, we caught two of the mongooses playing in an opening in the tree that was partially lit. I took the photo.
