#THISISAMERICA
Notice the girl facing the 3 African American boys with America written on her shirt? To me, she represents "America" today. Her facial expression, as she stares at the boys working for spare change, represents how a privileged society sees blacks as they are trying to get by. The boys are the only ones working and are the only African-Americans in the image. The boys' white shirts with stains on their backs represents the African-American quest for peace, equality, and history of struggle. You'll also notice males wearing dresses and a two other males holding/shaking hands (right). This, to me, represents the acceptance of homosexuality in our society today and how it is no longer out of the norm.
