Thousands of Sunflower Faces

Standing Tall Against the Wind Beautiful Sunflowers standing against the wind. This was taken near the airport in Denver, Colorado. I love the way these beautiful flowers face the east resisting the wind. I wanted to capture the flowers during sunset which took me about 2 hours to drive there but that didn't deter me. I set up my tripod and waited being bitten by tons of mosquitos and the thick humidity hanging in the air because of impending thunderstorms forecasted for that day. And right before dusk, I started photographing the sunflowers. I realized since the flowers were facing away from the sunset their faces would be dark so I used my flash to give them a kiss of light to illuminate them enough to balance the sunset light and the front of them. I commenced taking several photographs until the sunset disappeared behind them. It was wonderful watching the sunset fade in the background.
