Threat under the ice

I lived as a biologist in the French antarctic station. At this period the Adelie penguins chick are leaving the colonies because they are starving and need to take their autonomy. The days are pretty cold and a thin layer of sea ice has reformed. Thick enough for the penguins to walk on it but thin enough for the leopard seals to pass through it. A good opportunity to feed for the leopard seal by eating Adelie penguins
