Venice: the city of fog and water, the city of labyrinths and carnival—an inverted world, a world turned inside out. I was looking for a way to reflect its nature in photography, and found it in this very formulation: reflection, refraction of light and space, illusion and gaze through the mirror (the looking-glass?). The campaniles dissolve into the fog, the canals turn upside down, ripples cover the space like water.
