Thwarting the Wolf
This photo shows the remains of the Keller House in Malibu, California – remains which have survived countless fires and have remained intact for more than one hundred years. I came across this historic landmark while hiking through the Santa Monica Mountains. I was immediately reminded of the fable, The Three Little Pigs; Henry Keller it seemed had learned his lesson once the big, bad wolf in the guise of a fire swept across the mountains and burned his wooden cabin to the ground. His next home would be built of stone, securing his property (for a little while, anyhow) from the lurking danger that promised to strike when least expected.
