Two years ago, my family and I joined hundreds of others in the park for a summer production at Park Playhouse in Albany, NY. We sat close to other families navigating fallen ice pops, sweaty drinks, creaking beach chairs, and pouting, overtired toddlers. We laughed, gasped, cheered, and clapped together in our shared experience of the summer evening. This year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the outdoor theater is empty. The stage has not been built and the bleachers are deserted. Yet we are there, because we know we will be back soon.
