Kabini is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere, the biggest wilderness region of southern India. Though famous traditionally for its leopards and elephants, over the past decade Kabini has become one of the best places to try and sight India's National Animal, the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger or panthera tigris.
