15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Tim.

Looking for a new passion in life, Tim began helping his friend manage fifty beehives once a week over a period of six months. Tim has never purchased a beehive as almost all of his current hives have been given to him from other Beekeepers and even won his first hive at a beginner beekeeping class. Tim is currently the co-president and program director for his local beekeeping club and also mentors beginner beekeepers. He has now been working with honey bees for over eleven years. The current problems that Tim is facing as a beekeeper today is having to constantly learn what beekeeping practices work best — as honey bees are constantly adapting to an ever changing planet that includes many more bee related diseases and parasites than ever before. In which case, beehives require more maintenance and as the bees face more problems, beekeepers are racing fast to find applicable solutions.
