I spend a good part of the summer photographing ruby-throated hummingbirds visiting my balcony, which I fill with purple and red flowers. Sometimes I set up scenes and compact still lifes to watch the birds explore them while checking flowers and the tiny nectar feeders. This particular arrangement was inspired by Lewis Carroll and some old fairy tales.
