Time to Get Back

This is a prairie rattlesnake that was on a rock ledge in South Dakota. I consulted with a Game, Fish and Parks official and he confirmed the hundreds of prairie rattlesnakes he had encountered had black or red tongues. This was unusual to have a purple iridescent tongue.
