Times of Sand

I asked the Berber nomad why he lived in the desert. Why he preferred it. He said: "There is freedom here." I still don't understand what freedom he was referring to. Freedom from relationships? Politics? Money? Expectations? Although still untangible, I certainly feel his freedom in this photo. That freedom almost feels like a forbidden treasure. Something the desert gives silently to only those who seek it. The Elixir of Life. Freedom from time itself.
