To Be a Woman
This self portrait came from a feeling of frustration about violence against women back... We lost the little control we had over our bodies - they are seen as both something to hide away and an object of unwanted lust. I wanted to create an image to translate that disparity we have to live with our entire lives. The way we are taught to be ashamed of our bodies and still be seen as a desired thing for others to take whenever. I want to get rid of the guilt I possess in my body since I can remember - I want to reclaim what is my and only my own.
