Tobacco Curing Farms in Connecticut

Many travelers to the airport in Windsor Locks, CT, have caught a glimpse of these curing barns. If you were a little curious and ventured off the highway, you would see the fields and the barns up close. In the summer, you could see the huge tobacco plants as well - as far as eh eye can see!. The barns were humble and magnificent in their own way. These tobacco curing farms were torn down in 2019. It was sad to see the massive piles of weathered red wood and mangled rods and wires. I miss those barns.
