Tomb of Inês de Castro in Alcobaça, Portugal

Inês de Castro was the mistress of don Pedro. Pedro's father was not satisfied with the romance so he hires three persons to kill her. After Pedro's ascension to kingdom he pulled Inês de Castro from the grave and ordered all noblemen to swear her fidelity as a queen. The corpse was later buried in the Cistercien abbey in Alcobaça, Portugal
