Torigoe Matsuri in Tokyo, Japan

Japan is known for its many matsuri, which are local festivals celebrated by different shrines. The Torigoe Matsuri, which takes place in June, is known for having the biggest omikoshi (portable shrine), which weighs in at almost 4 tons. Despite the rain, thousands of people still turned up to see the omikoshi being carried around a closed four-lane street, with men jostling around to carry the omikoshi for good luck.
