Touch Down for a Day

Each year at least a billion birds migrate along the Pacific Flyway route from the Arctic to their final destination in South America. Along these routes, Northern California is a critically important stopover for these birds to rest their exhausted wings, feed on the wetlands, and have a drink of water. I was in complete awe to experience this amazing and unique wildlife near home. After documenting this shot on Feb 9, 2019, the next day they all decided to continue their journey.
