19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Touched by the morning sun
I spend every year lots of days in the Hüter Wohld because of the biodiversity. Early in the morning insects are using the first light to warm up and looking for food. At this time, insects take more importance on the search process and are less distractied by me or my macro lens. I followed some individuals of the silver-washed fritillary while they switched between the flowers.
