A cruise ship looms large at the bottom cliffs the tops of which are covered in holiday properties on the island of Santorini, Greece. The ship was one of five cruise ships to be seen waiting offshore whilst around 8000 passengers were ferried to the shore. Add to that the occupants of all the holiday homes and lets and the situation becomes unsustainable. This was my first visit to Santorini and I was shocked by the number of visitors who crammed the streets. I understand the authorities are thinking of limiting the number of ships which can visit, this seems to be long overdue.
