19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Transparency
Busily picking blackberries, I noticed this dragonfly above me. I was struck by the blending of colors and the serenity of the scene. I grabbed my cell phone sure that I only had a moment to capture the photograph. On the contrary, the dragonfly didn't move as I clicked away. I feared the dragonfly might be dead until a small bee brushed up against its wing and the dragonfly shrugged it off. It wasn't until I downloaded the photo, that I saw the beauty of the berries through the transparency of the wings.
