Vigan City was founded as Villa Fernandina de Vigan, in honor of the Prince of Spain, in 1572. Motorized tricycles, or simply tricycles (Filipino: traysikel; Cebuano: traysikol), is a type of motorized vehicle from the Philippines consisting of a motorcycle attached to a passenger cab. Along with the jeepney, it is one of the most common means of public or private transportation in the Philippines, especially in rural areas.
