17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Tulip Festival, late spring
This photo was taken just before Tulip Time 2018. It is of my daughter, who went for a close up inspection of the tulips in the gardens. Bright green leaves on the newly budding trees and the dark skies of rain over Lake Michigan compliment the bright festive colors of the tulips.
