What makes a place remarkable? I know the list must be different for each of us. For me there is one thing on that list which has always rung true – and that is when the silence is such that all I can hear is the slight ringing in my ears. Nothing else can be heard, save the deep sigh released from time to time. I had spent the night on the tundra, while it rained so hard during the night I was sure I’d wake in a lake. Instead this is the surprise Tundra Island gave me. Remarkable!
