14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Travel
Tunnel of Trees

This magical pathway through the woods is located within the UNESCO World Heritage listed grounds of the two palaces (Augustusburg and Falkenlust) at Brühl, Germany. To reach the hunting lodge, Falkenlust, from the main palace, Augustusburg, guests stroll through the formal gardens and the wooded walkways of the park (shown here), before passing through a set of gates and continuing over an overpass above a roadway and then between agricultural fields and back into woods.
