18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Turnstones Preening
I discovered this group of Turnstones along the coast close to my home in Suffolk, UK. They were preening together on the large rocks which have been placed there to act as a sea defence. I climbed up onto one of rock defences and waited for them to land 10 metres in front of me.
