Two Seconds of Courage

As part of our experiential learning in a college class we spent a week in Glacier National Park where we explored the alpine ecosystems. This particular day we had been up at the break of dawn to hike Grinell Glacier. There was a detour because of a bear so we ended up hiking about 5.5 miles up the glacier where we were all sore and tired. When I saw that lake though, I thought if I just had two seconds of courage I could do something crazy, so I swam in glacial melt.
