Both of these young stallions brought their small band of mares down to the river at the same time and place for a drink. They're a part of the Salt River wild horse heard living on the Tonto National Forest. Which is north east of the Phoenix metro area. Some of the wild horse management folks said these two were believed to be brothers. And this was perhaps their first meeting as young stallions. The few of us there witnessing this event took a deep breath and waited to see what happened. They slowly walked up to each other. Both did some snorting, stomping and splashing all the while moving closer and closer to each other. Usually at this point the posturing turns to biting, kicking and all out chaos. But not today. They touched muzzles let out a couple more snorts and whinnies then turned and went their separate ways. A bit anticlimactic but nice to think a little brotherly love may have come into play. You decide for your self.
