Early morning 3 degrees Celsius in the desert watching the sun come up at Uluru. Everyone else is watching the rock and the changing colours as the sun comes up from the side - dark mauve, reds and browns. I turn to the right and see the brilliance of the dead tree and landscape silhouetted on the horizon. There's always more to the desert than what you expect.
