My daughter was born five days before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Our "fifth day"—the day we left the hospital after an emergency intervention—coincided with the general offensive. Except for our first four days in the maternity ward, our life together has been entirely rhythmized by news from the front. Very quickly, a dull anxiety set in: fear for her future, and for that of all children growing up in the shadow of conflict.
