I created this photography series to remember the sacrifice made in WW1 and WW2 by our gallant African soldiers in the British African Colonial units. Regardless of their culture, belief, and religion; these people fought as one alongside other troops and volunteers to protect the British Empire and its interests. They fought for their motherland. But despite all of this, they are rarely spoken of. The Kings African Rifles was a multi-battalion British colonial regiment that served from 1902 until the 1960s when many African nations gained independence from colonial rule. Their sole purpose was to serve as an instrument of civilised authority and as a defender of British colonies and protectorates in Africa and beyond. This Image dipicts a soldier sat on a stool with his gun and flowers. it is a reminder that not all wars are fought with underlay hostilities between nations, some are because one’s love for his people.
