Ushna

Ushna, means "fragrance of flowers". I was staring at her eyes, but she never dared to look back. Instead, she kept her eyes down & her anxiety was pretty obvious. I was in a small village 13km away from Leh, the capital of Ladakh, India. I request her Brother’s permission to take some photos of her. After asking her first, he invited me inside their wonderful wooden house & showed me their family’s old furniture. He introduced me to the rest of the family & we took some tea. The time was passing pleasantly without even noticing & when the shooting started, it was already late afternoon. The light wasn’t enough in the garden. So, we strolled in the fields next to the house, chasing the last sunlight. The field had a clear view to a monastery & the view of Karakoram mountains …Into that scenery, she let her soul free, looked fully confident & strong... I share 3hours of my life with this kind & generous family. We shared dreams & exchanged experiences. We may be strangers, but if we put aside our prejudice & we open up, we will discover that there are more things that unite us, rather than divide us.
