Vel festival is one of the most prominent Hindu festival of southern part of India. Vel is a divine Javelin associated with Hindu war God Murugan. And this is a symbol of divinity, is an object of worship in the temples dedicated to Murugan and devotees in the early morning from all around the city come and gathered on the street and undertake a procession towards the Murugan temple.
