Vic's Demise

Bishop, California is a renowned rock climbing destination championed around the world for it's juggernaut granite boulders and stunning scenery. Highball bouldering, the act of climbing massive blocks of rock unroped with only a small foam pad to protect a fall, is seen as a near religious practice in this small, sleepy eastern California town. Here, a climber ascends a monzonite granite massif in the Buttermilks, a hillside of house-sized blocks at the roots of the Eastern Sierra Nevada.
