14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Victory
I took this photo while visiting my grandparents and playing with my cousins. My youngest cousin, 6 years old, succeeded in grabbing the ball she had dropped 3 times before and, with a victorious smile, lifted it in the air like a trophy. What really attracted me at this picture is the way things continue at their normal pace outside her little world, with grandma washing the dishes and her older brother playing on the phone.
