19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People

Food,fire,shelter being the basics of survival,this old man is collecting giant sized "Shapla' which is a common food among the people of "bero" village of Purulia.They boil these water born stems which are then consumed.these stems are so deeply rooted inside the water he has to wrap his body with this water grown stems and come outside to collect his food.With much vim and vigor the man earns his food direct from the nature.
