Vintage Fiat 500 scene captured during Rome's quarantine.

The word quarantine originates from the Italian word “quarantena” from the Venetian language meaning “forty days”. This is one of 40 photos I captured for my “Rome Lockdown Series” documenting life on the Roman streets during my quarantine in Spring 2020. This image evokes the sudden quiet that overtook the city. The shuttered windows and doors, the older woman armored for her errands, the Fiat parked for an indefinite time. I love the color of the wheels in this photograph which gave me hope that brighter days were waiting for us on the horizon.
