Vladislav

August 2024. The city of Pokrovs'k. Most of the civilians have left following requests from the Ukrainian authorities for security reasons, as the city is regularly bombed by the Russians and will soon be under siege. Despite the curfew, I ran into Vladislav on the street and asked him to take his portrait. Vladislav had just lost his mother a few days ago, his only family. Nothing kept him in Pokrovs'k anymore, but he really had nowhere to go. I could sense the distress in his eyes; I couldn't imagine what choices were open to him and what his life would be like. July 2025. The city of Pokrovs'k still hasn't fallen, but it's subject to daily bombardments. The city is completely destroyed, and drones are everywhere, making it almost impossible to move around. Today the city is a field of ruins.
