White backed vultures stretch their wings for the first time at Shamwari after a 1,042 km, 18 hour journey. In January 2024, 163 Cape and African White backed vultures were moved here in the world’s largest vulture translocation, led by Shamwari, Vulpro, DHL and WeWild Africa.
