Vultures Fighting

Even within vultures, there is a hierarchy. Lappet-faced vultures are the largest in size and high up in the hierarchy. They have a distinguished pink face. At a kill, they are the first to approach the carcass as other vultures wait for their turn. This particular Lappet face vulture protects the carcass as it chases away another that approaches the kill. With its wings widely spread open, the African white-backed vultures move away, avoiding a fight they cannot win.
