Waiting
At Kenya’s Maasai Mara, we came upon a pair of lions wrapped in their own fierce romance, nuzzling and mating with the urgency of wild hearts. While the rest of our group was spellbound by their dance, my gaze drifted to another lion resting a short distance away. He sat regal and still, his head lifted, his eyes roaming the endless sweep of the savanna. In that quiet silhouette, he seemed like a lonely sentinel of the plains, waiting for his Juliet to step out of the golden grass.
